July 18, 2026, marked a futuristic outlook for India’s private space sector. The country witnessed the successful launch of Vikram-1 from the Satish Dhawan Space Center. Behind this successful undertaking is Skyroot Aerospace, valued over USD 1.1 billion. The company has raised over USD 60 million, which focuses on transitioning from a maiden orbital mission to subsequent successful commercial launches.
Skyroot Aerospace plans to prepare additional commercial launch campaigns, increase launch cadence, and begin executing its backlog of customer payloads while scaling rocket production. The company has created a roadmap of launches through the following collaborations:
January 2025: Skyroot signed an agreement with the Government of Telangana to establish an integrated private rocket manufacturing, integration, and testing facility in Telangana.
June 2025: Skyroot signed an MoU with Axiom Space to explore integrated launch and orbital infrastructure solutions for future commercial low-Earth orbit missions.
October 2025: Exolaunch and Skyroot Aerospace entered into a strategic partnership to provide end-to-end satellite launch, integration, and deployment services using Skyroot's Vikram launch vehicles, expanding global access to commercial launch services.
With the successful launch of India's first privately developed orbital rocket, carrying commercial customer payloads into a 450 km orbit, Skyroot is expected to showcase its commercial readiness by executing a multi-customer launch in the future.
