Straits Research today released its comprehensive report, “Perlite Market Size & Outlook, 2026–2034”. According to the study, the global perlite market size is estimated at USD 2.18 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 4.16 billion by 2034, registering a CAGR of 7.4% during the forecast period (2026–2034).
Perlite is widely used in the oil and gas industry in drilling fluids and oil wells to improve filtration, reduce fluid loss, and stabilize drilling mud. It also functions as a thermal insulator for high-temperature and high-pressure environments, particularly in cryogenic applications and pipe insulation.
In Brazil, one of the leading oil-producing countries, plans to expand oil and gas production by more than 20% by 2030 are underway. However, according to new analysis, up to 85% of Petrobras’ planned extraction may be unprofitable under a 1.5°C climate scenario. While this presents economic risks, expansion in the sector is expected to support perlite demand in Brazil.
